Overview
Grade HW is a heat-resistant austenitic stainless steel casting alloy specified by ASTM A297/A297M, formulated for demanding high-temperature applications involving oxidizing and carburizing conditions. With a typical composition of approximately 28% chromium and 48% nickel, HW offers outstanding resistance to thermal fatigue, oxidation, and metal dusting. Its high nickel content provides superior structural stability at elevated temperatures, making it ideal for use in reformer tubes, radiant coils, and furnace internals. Grade HW is commonly employed in the petrochemical and heat treatment industries where long-term durability and corrosion resistance are critical under extreme thermal conditions.
