Overview
Grade 6A is a superaustenitic duplex stainless steel casting alloy specified by ASTM A890/A890M, developed for extreme service conditions where maximum corrosion resistance and mechanical strength are required. It contains high levels of chromium, nickel, molybdenum, nitrogen, and copper, delivering exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking. With higher alloy content than lower duplex grades, Grade 6A is ideally suited for critical applications in offshore oil and gas, deep-sea systems, chemical processing, and desalination. Its superior strength and corrosion resistance make it a reliable choice for cast components exposed to aggressive, high-chloride, or sour environments over extended service periods.
