Overview
CG8M is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy specified by ASTM A744/A744M, intended for corrosion-resistant service in industrial applications. It is the cast equivalent of wrought 316 stainless steel and contains molybdenum to improve resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride-induced attack. This alloy is commonly used in pump and valve components, pressure vessels, and fittings exposed to harsh chemical environments, including marine and chemical processing applications. CG8M provides a reliable combination of corrosion resistance, strength, and ductility, making it a preferred material for equipment operating in aggressive media.
