Overview
CG8M is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy defined by ASTM A743/A743M, engineered for corrosion-resistant applications where both strength and durability are required. It is the cast equivalent of wrought 316 stainless steel and contains molybdenum to improve resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, particularly in chloride-bearing environments. This alloy is widely used for pump and valve components, fittings, and housings exposed to aggressive chemical and marine conditions. CG8M offers a combination of excellent corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties, and reliable performance in a broad range of industrial service environments, including chemical processing, pulp and paper, and desalination systems.
