Overview
CF3MN is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy specified by ASTM A351/A351M, designed for pressure-containing components requiring a combination of high strength and excellent corrosion resistance. It is an alloyed grade that includes molybdenum and nitrogen, providing superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking compared to conventional 316L-type castings. With its low carbon content, CF3MN also offers improved weldability and reduced risk of intergranular corrosion. This alloy is often selected for use in chemical processing, marine environments, pulp and paper facilities, and other aggressive service conditions where enhanced mechanical properties and corrosion performance are required.
