Overview
CG8M is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy specified under ASTM A351/A351M for pressure-containing components such as valves, flanges, and fittings. It is the cast equivalent of wrought grade 316 stainless steel and is characterized by excellent corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties. As a molybdenum-bearing grade, CG8M offers improved resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, especially in chloride-containing environments. This alloy is particularly suited for applications requiring high corrosion resistance and moderate strength, such as chemical processing, marine environments, and pulp and paper industries.
