Overview

Grade HC is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy specified under ASTM A297/A297M, intended for high-temperature applications where resistance to oxidation and carburization is critical. With a nominal composition of approximately 25% chromium and 20% nickel, HC provides a stable microstructure and good mechanical strength at elevated temperatures. This alloy is commonly used in components such as heat-treat furnace fixtures, radiant tubes, and thermal processing equipment operating under continuous or cyclic heat. Grade HC offers a balance of creep resistance, corrosion protection, and thermal fatigue strength, making it suitable for service in petrochemical, metallurgical, and industrial heating environments.
