Overview
CF8 is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy specified by ASTM A351/A351M for use in pressure-containing parts such as valves, pumps, flanges, and fittings. It is the cast equivalent of wrought grade 304 stainless steel and is widely used for its excellent combination of corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and formability. Containing 18% chromium and 8% nickel, CF8 offers good general corrosion resistance in a variety of environments, including oxidizing acids and atmospheric conditions. It is especially valued in applications where hygiene and cleanliness are important, such as food processing, water treatment, and chemical handling systems. CF8 is one of the most commonly used stainless steel casting grades due to its versatility, availability, and cost-effectiveness.
