Overview
CF3 is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy defined by ASTM A351/A351M, intended for pressure-containing components such as valves, fittings, pumps, and piping systems. It is the low-carbon variant of CF8 and the cast equivalent of wrought 304L stainless steel, offering good general corrosion resistance along with improved weldability and reduced susceptibility to intergranular corrosion. CF3 is commonly used in applications where moderate strength, cleanliness, and corrosion resistance are essential, particularly in food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical equipment, and chemical handling systems. Its stable austenitic structure also provides good toughness over a wide range of temperatures.
