Overview
Grade 5A is a high-alloy duplex stainless steel casting alloy defined by ASTM A995/A995M, designed for pressure-containing parts exposed to highly aggressive and corrosive environments. It features elevated levels of chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen, producing a strong and corrosion-resistant austenitic-ferritic microstructure. Known for its exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, Grade 5A is well-suited for demanding applications in seawater systems, offshore oil and gas platforms, chemical processing, and desalination plants. It offers superior strength and long-term reliability where traditional stainless steels may not provide sufficient protection.
