Overview
Grade 1C is a duplex stainless steel casting alloy specified by ASTM A890/A890M, developed for pressure-containing parts that demand superior resistance to localized corrosion and enhanced mechanical strength. It contains a balanced composition of chromium, nickel, molybdenum, copper, and nitrogen, engineered to provide excellent pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chloride-bearing environments. With higher nickel and copper content compared to Grade 1B, Grade 1C delivers improved corrosion resistance in reducing acids such as sulfuric acid, while maintaining strength and toughness. It is widely used in applications such as chemical process equipment, marine systems, and power generation components, where exposure to aggressive media and long service life are critical.
