Overview
CF3MN is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy defined by ASTM A743/A743M, developed for pressure-containing and corrosion-resistant applications requiring enhanced mechanical strength. It incorporates molybdenum and nitrogen, which together improve resistance to localized corrosion—such as pitting and crevice attack—as well as increase yield strength and structural integrity. As the cast equivalent of wrought 316LN stainless steel, CF3MN offers low carbon content for improved weldability and resistance to intergranular corrosion. It is commonly used in chemical processing, desalination, marine applications, and components exposed to chloride-laden environments, where both corrosion performance and mechanical durability are critical.
