Overview
CF20 is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy specified under ASTM A743/A743M, intended for general-purpose corrosion-resistant applications. With a nominal composition similar to CF8 but a slightly higher carbon content, CF20 offers a balance of moderate corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties. It is commonly used for castings such as pump housings, valve bodies, and piping components in water treatment, chemical processing, and industrial equipment. CF20 performs well in mildly corrosive environments and is suitable where standard 18-8 stainless steel properties are sufficient and a durable, cast form is preferred.
