Overview
CF8M is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy defined by ASTM A351/A351M, intended for pressure-containing applications such as valves, pumps, flanges, and pipe fittings. It is the cast equivalent of wrought grade 316 stainless steel and is widely used for its superior corrosion resistance and mechanical integrity in demanding environments. With added molybdenum compared to CF8, CF8M offers enhanced resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride-induced attack, making it especially suitable for use in chemical processing, marine environments, and other chloride-rich or acidic service conditions. It maintains excellent strength and ductility, and is commonly selected where reliability and corrosion performance are critical.
