Overview
Grade 3A is a duplex stainless steel casting alloy designated by ASTM A995/A995M, intended for use in pressure-containing components requiring superior mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. It is alloyed with chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen to form a robust austenitic-ferritic microstructure that resists pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking. Grade 3A offers slightly lower nickel content than similar grades while maintaining excellent corrosion performance, making it a cost-effective option for marine environments, desalination systems, and chemical process equipment. It is frequently used in pump bodies, valve components, and structural castings where durability and corrosion resistance are critical.
