Overview
Grade 2A is a duplex stainless steel casting alloy designated under ASTM A890/A890M, designed for pressure-containing components requiring high strength and corrosion resistance in aggressive service environments. With a balanced austenitic-ferritic microstructure and alloying elements including chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen, Grade 2A provides enhanced resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking. This grade is particularly suitable for components exposed to seawater, brine, and a variety of chemical processing media. It offers an excellent combination of mechanical properties and corrosion performance, making it a popular choice for pump housings, valve bodies, heat exchangers, and other critical parts used in marine, oil and gas, and industrial processing systems.
