Overview
CF8 is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy covered under ASTM A743/A743M, used in general corrosion-resistant applications across a variety of industries. It is the cast equivalent of wrought 304 stainless steel and offers a reliable combination of corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and formability. With a nominal composition of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, CF8 performs well in mildly aggressive environments such as water, air, and many organic and inorganic chemicals. It is widely utilized in pump housings, valve bodies, and other cast components where moderate corrosion resistance and structural integrity are required. CF8 is also a standard material for components in the food, chemical, and marine sectors.
